'LORD, I Messed Up Again'!

“But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him” (Jeremiah 18:4).

Are there times in your life when that ‘pot gets marred in your hands’?

Well, notwithstanding the fact that you are a very good cook, every woman dreads that moment when she tastes the nicely spiced meal for the first time (among guests) only to realize that she added a lot of salt to one of the dishes! Thank GOD, my guest was not one that I needed to impress!

Of course, upon realization of that little problem, I apologized and made effort to redeem the rest of the dish. However, even if I added some milk and water, the nicely spiced dish of beef seemed to draw closer to the salt! Therefore, I went home a very subdued Zion!

Nonetheless, I knew that there was an answer to that situation and I needed to find it! Therefore, I talked to GOD about it and it was not long after that that He reminded me about my past visits to Chinese restaurants. He reminded me of the sweet and sour dishes and gave me the idea of adding sugar! The following day, I promptly added a small amount of water to three tea spoonfuls of sugar and added it to the meal. I then added a cookie to it and came up with a very tasty meal! I was amazed!

Now, the situation above reminded me of how much we mess up sometimes but do not do anything about it. When we mess up in any area of our lives, we should do everything within our power to make it right. We should ask GOD to teach us how to make it right and then be attentive to what He says. Sometimes, He may remind us of a situation in our past that we could borrow from or He may create an entirely different solution. Regardless of what solution GOD gives us, it is within us to seek Him for a way out of that situation.

I do not know how you messed up this time but I sure know that the solution is within you. I know that the first action, towards making it right, is to acknowledge that it was your fault and that you would like to make it right. You will then ask GOD to show you how to do that and, when He does, you will give Him all the glory.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I messed up again. I cannot blame anyone this time because it was entirely my fault. Please forgive me. I now ask you to show me how to rectify the situation so that I will give all the glory when the problem has been sorted out. I thank you, LORD, because you have done it. In Jesus’ name, I have prayed, amen.
